Bad_breath

Morning breath- what could be worse?? Bad breath in the morning is bad but how about when it happens after eating certain foods (Sure, we all love garlic, especially with the great Italian food in Brooklyn, but the garlic breath is something we could do without!). Plus depending on the situation you’re in, having bad breath can be downright embarrassing (now one wants to be the guy at work with bad breath). So with that being said, we at Modern Dentistry wanted to compile our five best tips for fresh breath any time of the day. And as usual, if you want to learn even more about fresh breath, or schedule a cleaning, give us a call today: (718)-339-6000 or visit us at www.moderndentistry.com.

5 Tips for Fresh Breath:

  • Drink Water: Dry mouth is one of the leading causes of bad breath. Drink water frequently in order to rinse your mouth and keep it moisturized.
  • Brush and Floss regularly: I know it seems obvious, but make sure that you’re brushing and flossing, as well as scraping your tongue twice a day to fight bad breath. You should also make sure to see a dentist and hygienist twice a year for a professional cleaning.
  • Don’t Use mouthwash with alcohol: Mouthwash with alcohol can actually be more harmful. Alcohol will dry your mouth which can result in bad breath.
  • Chew gum with Xylitol: Xylitol is an ingredient that can often be found in sugar-free gum and it promotes saliva production, which will help fight bad breath.
  • Use Fresh Herbs: Herbs like mint and thyme  can help neutralize strong smells and is refreshing too!
